Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone go into Ya-Ka-Ama?

Yes you are welcome to come and visit during business hours. But if you are planning to camp or come to have a family picnic or come before or after business hours, you will need to fill out a land use form. We cannot allow people to come before or after business hours because of liability issues.

Is there a Caretaker, if so, who is it?

Yes there is a Caretaker, his name is Adrian.

Has there always been a locked gate at the entrance to the back?

Yes there has always been a gate. It was not locked before but has to be locked now due to tresspassers.

Is there a fee to use the land?

Yes there is a fee if you plan to have an event or a large family get together. We charge a $50 fee for land use. This fee is negotiable but must be negotiated with the Board of Directors.

I heard that the Board of Directors was selling Ya-Ka-Ama acreage to IHS for a Youth Facility, is this true?

No this is not true. This was something that a previous board had plans to do, the current board does not have the desire to sell any of the acreage at Ya-Ka-Ama. This was voted upon at a meeting of the YaKa-Ama membership.

Does the board have plans to put a vineyard on Ya-Ka-Ama?

No.
